Find a Rewarding Career in Cybersecurity

There is a shortage of cybersecurity talent and the demand for skilled professionals continues to grow. In 2016, there were 348,640 cybersecurity jobs left unfilled because organizations could not find talent with the right skill sets. To help fill the skills gap, the SANS Institute created the SANS CyberTalent Immersion Academy, an intensive, accelerated training program that provides SANS world class training and GIAC certifications to quickly and effectively launch careers in cybersecurity.

SANS CyberTalent Immersion Academies are 100% scholarship-based and no cost to participants. Academies are offered throughout the year in a variety of locations. There are several types of Immersion Academies.

Pretty Girl

#MeToo “You’re too pretty to be in the Air Force. You’re too pretty to fight in a war. You’re too pretty to be an Intelligence Analyst.” These were the outrageous things men would say as a backhanded compliment. Usually shortly after the comment would be some form of harassment: an overly long hug, a sneak feel of my butt, groping of my breasts, an unwanted kiss on the cheek, a sexual comment about my chest or other assets. I was told routinely to smile and accept the compliments. Don’t be so uptight. It’s just a compliment right?

No, it’s wrong! I have a voice to speak up. I’m not “just a pretty girl.” I am intelligent. I worked my ass off to successfully complete the Air Force Basic Military Training and subsequently the Air Force Technical Training school to become an Intelligence Analyst. I served honorably in the United States Air Force and volunteered to serve in Operation Enduring Freedom as a Silent Warrior (Intelligence Analyst). I’m offended by the notion that “pretty” defines who I am when I’m so much more: An Air Force Veteran, an Entrepreneur, a Community Service Advocate and a Leader.

I’m not just a “Pretty Girl!” I’m a BOSSED UP WOMAN!!!

Success Creators Visits Mad Cow Grill

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting with these beautiful ladies for the First Success Creators Monthly Meetup at the new Mad Cow Grill restaurant in Laurel. We discussed career goals, post retirement plans, and steps to progressively make a career transition. We also talked about business development, licensing for business, international trade, and resources for Small Business Owners. The conversation then turned to home ownership, counseling for new homebuyers and real estate investment.

We met one of the owners of Mad Cow Ed Reynosa. He’s of Dominican and Peruvian descent and incorporates all of those flavors in his cooking. His partner is of Jamaican descent and brings the spicy, delicious Jamaican Flavors. He was extremely nice and graciously posed for a picture with us.

The restaurant staff was very accommodating and attentive. We arrived on Saturday at 4pm for the Happy Hour. The specials for appetizers and drinks are great! We ordered Salmon, Jerk Chicken, and the Ox Tails. Overall the menu is very reasonable and the food and drinks were superb!

Everyone gets hot coco shots with the meals. Loved it!!! I highly recommend this spot for events and casual dining with friends.

The next Success Creators Meet Up will be at Swahili Village for African Cuisine in April! We are also partnering with EmpowerU Career Coaching, LLC and Microsoft to provide a hands on Linked In Training at the Microsoft Theater in Tyson’s Corner. Join us and let Success Creators help you navigate your pathway to Success! Join our Meet Up Group for more info: http://meetu.ps/c/2LrbX/2C3tp/a
