New Year! Beauty Regime

For the past few months I’ve been using Drunk Elephant Skin Care products. The results are: Glowing Skin! I went to Sephora in Georgetown (Washington, DC) for a skin analysis and the recommendations were perfect. As a 40-year-old woman it’s important for me to focus on a targeted skincare regime. I have combination skin, dark circles under my eyes, and that pesky oily t-zone. I’m concerned about wrinkles and want to maintain that youthful glow. The Drunk Elephant line has proven to be perfect for my skincare needs.

What are some of your skincare must haves?

Black Travel Movement Lawsuit Pending Over Black Yacht Week

The Black Travel Movement, was recently hit with a federal lawsuit for allegedly failing to pay a $550,000 bill owed to a Maryland-based yacht company that provided more than two dozen vessels that were used during “Black Yacht Week.” The event is being compared to the Fyre Festival, as a high-end excursion to the Bahamas that became a nightmare for disgusted travelers that experienced: lack of food, water and toilets.

I’ve experienced one too many negative group trips. Friends, associates and “travel concierges,” have over promised and under delivered. Lessons Learned: ALWAYS GET Travelers Insurance. Pay with a Credit Card if possible so you can dispute fraudulent charges. Be cautious about paying via “Paypal Friends and Family,” “CASHAPP,” and other non-refundable payment platforms. Opt to pay the extra money to send the money via PayPal for Business where as a consumer you can dispute charges. Special Note: Frequent Traveler does not = Travel Agent.

Business Owners: Get an LLC and official travel agent license. Separate your business from your personal accounts. This will protect your personal assets in the event of a lawsuit. If you operate a “group travel business” get Professional Liability Insurance to cover yourself in the event of a lawsuit for substandard accommodations, accusations of negligence, and travel planning mistakes/oversights.

Intelligence Careers – Seek Internships, Scholarships, and Jobs!

For years I worked within the Intelligence Community and wondered why so few people looked like me. Part of the reason was awareness. African-American Youth are not often informed about the opportunities to work within the Intelligence Community and that needs to change. I’ve asked recruiters to proactively target schools in underserved communities and HBCUs to recruit and hire students of color. There’s many scholarships, internships, fellowships and careers in the Intelligence Community to include HR, Accounting/Budget, Law, Medical, and Cyber/IT. Let’s change the narrative and diversify the Intelligence Community.

For those seeking jobs within the government consider searching: http://www.IntelligenceCareers.gov

New Year Lessons

I started my New Year off with a BANG! I’m physically fine. Mentally a little shaken up. At this moment on January 1, 2019 my life once again flashed before my eyes. I realized right at this second that life is too short. At any given time my life can be taken away from me. I’m pleased with the way I’ve lived my life. I have no regrets. I have lived a purpose filled life. In 2019 I’m letting it all go. I forgive others who I have felt wronged me. I forgive myself. I’m walking into 2019 with one goal: Serve Others in LOVE! What can I do each day to SERVE? That’s it. I love each of you and pray that you have a New Year full of LOVE, BLESSINGS and PURPOSE.

Love,

Simply Ebony
